Chantanon Wannakajorn appointed Thailand's new Energy Permanent Secretary

The Thai Cabinet has approved the appointment of Chantanon Wannakajorn as the new Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Energy. He succeeds Prasert Sinsukprasert, who is set to retire on September 30.

Chantanon, currently a special expert at the Prime Minister’s Office, brings extensive experience from various government roles. His previous positions include Secretary-General of the Office of Agricultural Economics, Chairman of the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority, and Agricultural Counselor in Tokyo, Japan.

The appointment follows previous speculation regarding the potential transfer of Nattapol Rangsitpol, the Permanent Secretary for Industry, to the energy ministry. However, that move did not proceed due to procedural issues. The appointment for the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry remains pending until the Prime Minister returns from an overseas mission.
