Chapecó receives Gold level ISO 37120 certification for urban services
Chapecó has become the first municipality in the state of Santa Catarina to receive the Gold level ABNT NBR ISO 37120 certification. This international standard evaluates indicators for urban services and quality of life across 19 different areas, including health, urban cleaning, waste collection, civil defense, and social assistance.
The certification was presented by ABNT National Certification Manager Dênis Carvalho to Mayor Valmor Scolari. The recognition places Chapecó among a restricted group of only nine Brazilian cities currently holding this Gold level status.
The certification process, which lasted approximately eight months with support from Bright Cities, involves monitoring and proving data that aligns with international standards used in countries such as the United Kingdom, China, India, and the United States. Officials noted that the certification facilitates data-driven management, helps identify areas requiring investment, and enhances the city's ability to secure national and international funding.
