Char Fasson hosts student awards as Gafargaon train derailment disrupts rail service

In Char Fasson, the Al-Ittihad Foundation organized an award ceremony on September 12, 2026, to honor meritorious students and teachers. Over one hundred students received certificates, crests, and cash prizes. During the event, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Emadul Hossain emphasized the need for rapid results following scholarship exams and suggested anonymous grading to ensure transparency and neutrality.

Separately, in Gafargaon, a ballast train derailed near the Golabari area between the Kawraid and Mashakhali railway stations. The incident caused a six-hour suspension of train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route. Following recovery efforts by a relief train from Dhaka, service was restored by 11:00 PM on September 13, allowing stranded trains, including the Teesta and Jamuna, to resume their journeys.
