Chargers edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu holds out of training camp amid contract talks

Los Angeles Chargers edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu is holding in the team's training camp while negotiating a new contract. He attended minicamp, performed individual drills in workout attire, and returned to full uniform for drills but skipped team sessions. Defensive coordinator Chris O’Leary said the team is "keeping it rolling" despite his absence. Tuipulotu, the No. 54 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, posted 13 sacks last season and has accumulated 26 sacks and 144 tackles in 36 starts. Safety Derwin James, who previously held in camp, noted the team’s support for Tuipulotu. The hold‑in allows players to meet collective bargaining requirements while applying leverage in contract talks, avoiding fines for missing camp.
