Charichari launches shared-cycle experiment in Kusatsu City
Charichari Co., Ltd. has signed a partnership agreement with Kusatsu City in Shiga Prefecture to launch a transportation social experiment in the Biwako Cultural Park City area. The initiative officially commenced on October 13, 2026.
The experiment aims to address challenges in secondary transportation by introducing shared cycles as a way to complement existing public transit. The goal is to improve mobility for residents and visitors, enhance connectivity between Kusatsu and Otsu cities, and promote sustainable urban development and regional revitalization.
As part of this expansion, four new bicycle ports have been established at key locations, including the Ritsumeikan University Biwako-Kusatsu Campus (BKC), Shiga Daihatsu Arena, and Biwako Cultural Park. The service is designed to facilitate first-mile and last-mile travel to various local facilities and campuses.
