During an event in Rome marking the International Day of Charitable Legacies, representatives from the National Council of Notaries and the Charitable Testament Committee addressed the state of philanthropic inheritance in Italy.

Research conducted by Walden lab indicates that while 78% of Italians are aware of the concept of charitable legacies, only 12% understand the specific legal procedures required to execute them. Flavia Fiocchi of the National Council of Notaries emphasized that notaries play a vital role in navigating succession, ensuring that the legal shares reserved for immediate family members are protected while facilitating the donor's wishes.

Rossano Bartoli, spokesperson for the Charitable Testament Committee, noted that charitable legacies do not require large estates and that Italian law provides absolute protection for legitimate heirs. Data shows that among Italians over 50, 23% are considering allocating part of their assets to social causes, reflecting a growing awareness of philanthropic tools.
