Charities distribute school supplies in Gabon and DRC
Charitable organizations in Gabon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have launched initiatives to provide school supplies to students ahead of the upcoming academic year.
In Gabon’s Ogooué-Ivindo province, the Fondation Ma Bannière completed a distribution campaign targeting rural villages and neighborhoods in Makokou. The mission, led by Felly Dipouma and Stéphanie N’Tcheyi, provided kits to hundreds of children to alleviate the financial burden of school expenses on low-income households in remote areas such as Yoko, Etakaniabe, and Mbela.
In the Nyiragongo territory of North Kivu, the local NGO Jirani Msaada distributed school kits to 67 orphaned and vulnerable children. The assistance included notebooks, pens, uniforms, and shoes. Coordinator Jackson Kavyavu noted that this is the fourth year the organization has implemented this initiative through community fundraising. While the aid supports school readiness, the organization highlighted ongoing challenges in the region, including child malnutrition.
