Charity foundations launch initiatives to support elderly in Taiwan
The Jihui Foundation has launched its 2026 ‘Year-End Love Transmission’ campaign to support elderly residents and families in remote areas. Actor Xie Zuwu, serving as the foundation's public welfare ambassador for the second consecutive year, highlighted the psychological and physical burdens faced by long-term caregivers. The foundation’s initiative focuses on three core service areas: providing essential supplies and nutritional supplements, improving home safety and living conditions, and offering home visits and care support.
Separately, the Huashan Foundation’s Hemei Angel Station celebrated its 17th anniversary in Changhua County. The station has provided companionship to 222 vulnerable seniors over nearly two decades. Currently serving 95 elderly individuals, the station is seeking support for an additional 80 seniors on its waiting list. The foundation is promoting its ‘Help One Station, Protect 100 Elders’ program to encourage community donations and volunteerism for those facing disability, dementia, or loss of family support.
