Charity Pierce undergoes massive weight loss journey

Charity Pierce, a resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has undergone a significant medical transformation after reaching a peak weight of 778 lbs (approximately 353 kg). Her struggle with extreme obesity was linked to childhood trauma and using food as a coping mechanism for domestic violence witnessed in her youth.

Seeking to improve her health and prepare for marriage to her partner, Tony Sauer, Pierce participated in the TLC reality program ‘My 600lb Life’ under the guidance of Dr. Younan Nowzaradan in Houston. To qualify for gastric bypass surgery, she successfully reduced her weight from 778 lbs to approximately 650 lbs within five months.

Following the gastric bypass, Pierce underwent additional complex procedures, including the removal of 57 lbs of fat from her leg and 37 lbs of excess skin from her abdomen. Despite losing a total of approximately 440 lbs, her recovery has been marked by serious medical complications, including cellulitis infections and septic shock.
