Radio personality Charlamagne tha God criticized a Florida police officer during a recent episode of ‘The Breakfast Club’ following allegations of surveillance abuse. The host addressed the case of Christopher Goodson, a Haines City Police Department officer who reportedly used Flock automated license plate reader technology to track his estranged wife.

Investigators found that Goodson entered his ex-wife’s license plate number into the system 717 times over nearly two years. Goodson claimed the searches were intended to monitor his children’s whereabouts while they were with their mother. He now faces charges of official misconduct and offenses against users of computer systems, and he reportedly intends to resign from the department.

Charlamagne tha God used the incident to highlight how individuals can abuse institutional power through technology, stating that the officer had ‘turned heartbreak into a surveillance operation.’
