Charleroi Airport controllers set strike for Aug. 12 over night pay demand

Air traffic controllers at Brussels South Charleroi Airport have filed a strike notice that would take effect on 12 August. The union is demanding a 60 % increase in the night‑shift allowance, which would raise the payment to over €1,000 per night shift.

Belgian air navigation service provider Skeyes announced the notice and said the airport will be closed between 23:00 and 06:00. It has scheduled a conciliation meeting for the following Friday, which could suspend the planned strike. Skeyes emphasized its intention to avoid disruption for passengers and airlines, noting that night flights at Charleroi are rare – on average only two per night, both often delayed.
