Charleroi emerges as top summer destination in Belgium

Belgium is being promoted as a premier road‑trip region with a ten‑day itinerary that links the capital Brussels, historic cities such as Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp, and the scenic landscapes of Wallonia, including Namur, Liège and the Ardennes. The guide stresses cultural heritage, local cuisine and sustainable tourism, offering practical advice on routes, accommodation and seasonal attractions.

In parallel, Charleroi, a city in Wallonia, is highlighted by the "SUN IS FUN 2026" programme as an unexpected summer hotspot. Formerly known for its industrial past, the city now showcases transformed sites like the UNESCO‑listed Bois du Cazier mining area, rooftop venues such as the Novotel Gourmet Bar, and a calendar of festivals—including Rockerill, Estivales de Farciennes, NRJ in the Park and the Panorama Festival at the Terril des Hiercheuses—drawing visitors to its cultural and outdoor offerings.
