Charleroi to host international dance colloquium-festival in 2027

The international colloquium-festival ‘Nouvelles épidémies dansantes [NED]’ is returning to Charleroi from February 16 to 20, 2027. Following a successful first edition in 2024, the second edition will focus on the theme ‘Hors cadre(s)’, exploring dance through the lens of norms, spaces, and perspectives.

Hosted by the TRANSFO interdisciplinary center at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) Charleroi campus, the four-day event will bring together researchers, practitioners, artists, and enthusiasts. The program includes scientific communications, artistic interventions, dance conferences, projections, testimonies, performances, and round tables.

The festival aims to examine dance—ranging from live performance to ritualistic, militant, or digital practices—as a medium for observing the construction, movement, resistance, and reinvention of social, political, and bodily norms.
