Charles Anosike elected President of ACMAD Board of Governors
Professor Charles Anosike, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), has been elected President of the Board of Governors of the African Centre of Meteorological Applications for Development (ACMAD).
His four-year term began following an election held on September 10, 2026, in Cotonou, Benin, during the 24th Ordinary Session of the ACMAD Board of Governors and the 22nd African Climate Outlook Forum (ACCOF22).
In his new role, Anosike is tasked with providing strategic leadership to strengthen institutional governance, foster partnerships, and improve climate services across Africa. His leadership aims to support ACMAD’s mandate of using weather and climate data to drive sustainable socio-economic development. This appointment occurs as African nations work to scale up responses to climate-related risks in alignment with the United Nations ‘Early Warnings for All’ initiative.
