Charles Aránguiz sidelined until at least July with calf injury
Universidad de Chile confirmed that midfielder Charles Aránguiz has suffered a serious injury to his right calf. Medical staff will conduct formal tests, but the club expects he will be unavailable for the remainder of the first half of the season, targeting a return in July.
The decision means Aránguiz will miss upcoming league matches against Union La Calera and O'Higgins, as well as pending Copa Chile fixtures. Coach Fernando Gago will have to adjust the midfield, potentially promoting Israel Poblete or Javier Altamirano to fill the void.
Club officials emphasized the need for a full recovery, opting not to rush his return despite the team's recent struggles in the Liga de la Copa 2026.
