Charles Barkley announces retirement from ‘Inside the NBA’

Charles Barkley has announced that he and Ernie Johnson plan to conclude their tenure on ‘Inside the NBA’ following the 2026–27 season. Speaking on ‘The Bill Simmons Podcast’, Barkley described the pair as a “package deal” and indicated that his decision to stay for additional seasons was motivated by a desire to ensure job security for the show’s behind-the-scenes crew during its transition to ESPN.

Barkley noted that he declined offers from other networks, including NBC, to remain alongside Johnson. He stated, “If Ernie retires after next season, I’m done,” emphasizing his respect for his colleague. The program is scheduled to return for the start of the 2026–27 NBA regular season on October 21, 2026.
