Charles Barkley criticizes Democratic platform positions

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley has criticized specific elements of the Democratic Party platform during an appearance on ‘The Chris Cuomo Project’ podcast. Barkley, identifying as an independent who has historically voted Democratic, stated he would not “kill my credibility” by supporting extremist positions.

Barkley expressed opposition to concepts such as socialism, the abolition of prisons, and the removal of law enforcement or ICE. He advocated for stricter voter ID requirements and suggested that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should improve its deportation efforts. While supporting immigration, he emphasized the need to address “crooked immigrants” and opposed open border policies.

Despite his critiques of the Democratic platform, Barkley remained critical of Donald Trump, noting that the former president “has made it more acceptable to be racist.”
