Charles Huff named Bear Bryant National Coach of the Week

University of Memphis head coach Charles Huff has been named the Bear Bryant National Coach of the Week. The honor follows his debut game with the Tigers, where he led a comeback victory against UNLV.

After trailing 14-7 at halftime, Memphis utilized explosive offensive plays and a strong defensive performance to outscore UNLV 20-7 in the second half. The defense recorded six sacks against the UNLV quarterback. Huff is the first head coach in Memphis program history to win his road debut.

Analyst Jason Whitlock also highlighted Huff's coaching style, contrasting his approach with that of Colorado coach Deion Sanders. Whitlock praised Huff's background as a former walk-on and his focus on player development and discipline over media branding.
