Charles Leclerc adopts Carbone Industrie brakes for Barcelona Grand Prix

Charles Leclerc has switched from Brembo to Carbone Industrie brake discs for the upcoming Formula 1 race in Barcelona, following a series of brake failures that forced him into the wall at his home Grand Prix in Monaco. Leclerc described the problem as a “nightmare,” saying three of the four brakes did not work and the rear brakes provided no deceleration. Ferrari responded by fitting the same Carbone Industrie configuration used by teammate Lewis Hamilton, whose brakes performed well in Japan and Montreal.

Hamilton noted that the change does not affect him and emphasized the team’s aim to improve overall performance. The Carbone discs deliver strong initial braking at high temperatures, while Brembo parts are valued for consistent performance across a broader temperature range. Leclerc will test the new setup during free practice sessions before deciding on further strategy.
