Charles Leclerc cites brake failure in Monaco crash, Brembo calls remarks premature

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc retired from the Monaco Grand Prix while running third after claiming three of his four brakes stopped working. He said the front‑left brake functioned, the front‑right was half‑working and both rear brakes provided no deceleration, describing the failure as unprecedented. Leclerc asserted that telemetry data clearly showed the malfunction and that the issue began after the safety‑car restart.

Brembo, the long‑time brake supplier to Ferrari, expressed “great astonishment” at the comments, labeling them premature. The Italian firm said it has not identified a cause and will analyse the data with the team to determine what happened. Leclerc later said the team had an internal fix for the upcoming Barcelona race.
