Ferrari faces technical issues and internal tension at Spanish Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring circuit proved difficult for Scuderia Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton was forced to retire early in the race due to a sudden brake failure, an incident he described as “completely unexpected.” Team principal Frédéric Vasseur noted that the team chose to retire the car to avoid unnecessary risks on the high-speed track.

Charles Leclerc finished in fourth place after a strong stint on hard tires. Leclerc attributed his qualifying performance to using an older ADUO 1 power unit specification following a crash at Monza, which left him with a power deficit compared to competitors. Ferrari management indicated that both drivers may face engine penalties later in the season to manage component life.

Internal tensions have also surfaced following a previous collision between the teammates at Monza. Hamilton has called for clearer “rules of engagement” to manage on-track duels, while Vasseur emphasized the need to prioritize the team’s collective championship goals. Additionally, drivers expressed frustration with the Madring circuit, citing a lack of overtaking opportunities and low entertainment value during the race.
