Charles Manson documentary released on Netflix

Netflix has released the final season of its true crime anthology series, ‘Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes’. The documentary explores the rise of cult leader Charles Manson, the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders, and his subsequent trial.

The series features previously unreleased prison recordings, including 137 telephone conversations Manson had with a retired detective during his final nine years of life. It also includes archival audio from followers such as Charles ‘Tex’ Watson, Susan Atkins, and Leslie Van Houten, alongside interviews with former cult members, law enforcement, and journalists.

Beyond the crimes, the documentary touches on Manson’s 46-year incarceration in various California prisons. Details from his prison life include over 100 rule violations, an incident in 1984 where an inmate set him on fire, and his ability to access modern technology, such as a mobile phone in 2009.
