Charles McHardie appointed Chief Information Officer at Reserve Bank of Australia

Charles McHardie has been appointed as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). He is scheduled to begin the role on October 19, succeeding Stephen Smith, who retired in June.

McHardie transitions to the RBA from Services Australia, where he served as the IT and digital chief for over four and a half years. During his tenure at Services Australia, he led significant digital transformations, including the welfare payments infrastructure transformation (WPIT). His previous experience in federal government ICT includes roles at the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, the Department of Human Services, Defence, and the Royal Australian Navy.
