Charles Peter Billone, a 64-year-old Canadian fugitive, has been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Santa Cruz, California. Billone has been wanted since 1991 following allegations of sexually assaulting a child in Canada.

According to reports, Billone was originally charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference. After being released on a promise to appear in court in 1991, he failed to appear and vanished. Investigators in Hamilton, Ontario, previously noted that he appeared to have changed his identity to evade detection.

In addition to the outstanding Canadian charges, ICE officials noted that Billone has prior convictions for drug offenses, assault, and stolen property. He is currently being held at the Golden State Annex detention facility pending removal proceedings.
