Charles Seddoh sentenced to 35 years for defiling two daughters

Charles Seddoh, a 35-year-old mason from Oyibi in Accra, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted on five counts of defilement and incest. The Circuit Court, located at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Police Headquarters, handed down the sentence following a sustained pattern of abuse against his two daughters.

Prosecution records indicate that the abuse began in 2018 with the elder daughter, who was 14 at the time. The abuse continued for approximately seven years. In 2021, Seddoh began defiling his younger daughter when she was 11. The victims, now aged 18 and 15, were subjected to physical beatings, food deprivation, and threats regarding their education to ensure their silence.

The court, presided over by Annette Sophia Essel, ordered that the two victims be referred to a psychologist for clinical therapy to address trauma and directed the police to place them in a shelter.
