Nashville SC sets MLS record as Liga MX and USL action continues
In Major League Soccer, Nashville SC set a new league record by becoming the first team to reach 63 points through 28 regular-season matches following a 4-1 victory over Austin FC. Goals from Reed Baker-Whiting, Elias Saad, Shak Mohammed, and Hany Mukhtar secured the win, leaving Nashville just 11 points behind Inter Miami’s all-time single-season record.
In Liga MX, Monterrey is set to face Club América in a critical match for playoff positioning. Monterrey currently sits two points outside a playoff spot, while Club América maintains a strong position with the league's best goal difference. The matchup features Monterrey head coach Matías Almeyda, who previously had a significant history against Club América during his tenure at Chivas.
In USL League One, the Portland Hearts of Pine suffered a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Club Boise after conceding a goal in the 93rd minute. This marked the 12th time this season Portland has allowed a late goal to flip a match outcome, contributing to a season total of 26 points dropped in the final ten minutes of play.
Additionally, in the USL Championship, Louisville City FC defeated Charleston Battery 2-0 at Patriots Point. Despite a scoreless first half and a disallowed goal for Charleston, Louisville secured the win with goals in the second half.
