Charleston City Unveils Survey to Shape New Tourism Management Plan
The City of Charleston announced a public survey on July 28, 2026 to collect resident feedback for its revised Tourism Management Plan, the first comprehensive update since 2015. The online questionnaire, available until October 8, takes roughly 12 minutes and asks about city services, communication, and quality‑of‑life issues related to tourism.
The effort follows a pro‑bono review by Bloomberg Associates, which examined best practices, analyzed data and interviewed more than 70 stakeholders. Mayor John Cogswell said, “Bloomberg gave us an outside perspective, but our residents are the real experts.” The updated plan has been named “The Charleston Standard.” Open‑studio sessions on tourism management will be held on September 24, October 1 and October 8, with additional community meetings slated for later in the year. The final plan is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
