Charleston debuts two new boutique hotel identities

Charleston’s Historic District has seen the debut of two new boutique hotel identities.

The Lowline Hotel, a 197-room lifestyle property, officially opened in July 2026 at 560 King Street. Formerly the Hyatt Place Charleston/Historic District, the property underwent a full gut renovation following its acquisition by Highline Hospitality Partners in November 2024. Now part of the JdV by Hyatt brand, the hotel features design elements inspired by Charleston’s maritime history and coastal landscape. Amenities include the Leeward restaurant and bar, a courtyard, a golf simulator lounge called The Long Game, and an indoor pool.

Additionally, the former Grand Bohemian Charleston has transitioned into Hotel Operis, an Autograph Collection boutique hotel. Rebranding took effect on October 1, 2026, the 50-room property now focuses on themes of performance and the arts. The hotel features theatrical-inspired decor, such as mirrors etched with quotations, and has introduced the Arden Room Rooftop Bar & Dining. The new concept emphasizes interactive guest experiences, including custom wine blending and cocktail classes.
