Charleston hosts upcoming literary and arts festivals

Charleston, South Carolina, is hosting two major cultural events. The 2026 Charleston Literary Festival is scheduled for November 6–15 at the Dock Street Theatre. The 10-day event features a diverse lineup of authors and thinkers, including Salman Rushdie, Barbara Kingsolver, Steven Pinker, and Tayari Jones. Programming includes discussions on history, science, and the arts, as well as a screening of ‘Knife: The Attempted Murder of Salman Rushdie’.

Additionally, the MOJA Arts Festival will take place from September 24 to October 1. This eight-day celebration highlights Black culture through music, visual art, food, and poetry. Highlights include ‘Wonder at 50’, a tribute to albums released in 1976 such as Stevie Wonder’s ‘Songs in the Key of Life’, and a finale curated by Ray and Vivian Scott Chew featuring national performers.
