Charleston man arrested for child sexual exploitation

Cameron Cox, a 27-year-old resident of Charleston, South Carolina, has been arrested on charges of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest follows an investigation by the South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

The investigation was initiated after an alert from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via its CyberTipline system. Authorities determined that Cox allegedly possessed multiple digital files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The operation involved coordination between several agencies, including the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and local police departments in Summerville and Mount Pleasant. Cox faces a felony charge that carries a maximum potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
