Charli Hately wins São Sebastião Pro surf competition in Brazil

Charli Hately and Ryan Kainalo secured victories at the Banco do Brasil São Sebastião Pro held at Maresias Beach in São Paulo. The event served as the third stop of the 2026 World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series, a critical stage in the qualification race for the Championship Tour.

In the women’s division, Australian Charli Hately claimed her first Challenger Series title by defeating Portugal’s Francisca Veselko in the final. Hately finished with a heat total of 14.33 points, overcoming Veselko’s 10.67 points. Despite the loss, Veselko’s second-place finish moved her up to second in the global rankings.

In the men’s division, Ryan Kainalo took the title. The competition featured significant ranking shifts for several athletes as the circuit approaches its final two events.
