Charli XCX Announces Conceptual Album 'Music, Fashion, Film' for July 24
British pop star Charli XCX has announced her seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, slated for release on 24 July. The 11‑track record runs a precise 30 minutes 5 seconds and is presented as a tightly‑structured, cross‑disciplinary work linking music, fashion and cinema. Two singles, “SS26” and “Rock Music,” have already been released.
The album cover, shot by photographer Aidan Zamiri, features three cultural icons: filmmaker Martin Scorsese, fashion designer Marc Jacobs and Velvet Underground co‑founder John Cale. The choice sparked online debate over the lack of gender and racial diversity, prompting Charli to share a template so fans could create alternative covers, many of which highlighted female figures.
Charli XCX described the project as an “ultra‑conceptual” effort that goes beyond music, aiming to blur the boundaries between the three artistic realms.
