Charli XCX makes film debut in indie movie 'Eruption' released June 24

British pop star Charli XCX stars in her first leading film role as Bethany in the independent movie "Eruption". The 71‑minute drama, directed by Pete Ohs, was shot in Warsaw on a budget under $100,000 and follows a weekend in the Polish capital that is upended by a sudden volcanic eruption, prompting the protagonist to reassess her relationship and life choices.

The film opened in French cinemas on 24 June after premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025. Charli XCX also contributed to the screenplay and serves as a producer on the project, which also stars Lena Góra, Jeremy O. Harris and Will Madden.
