Charlie Cresswell joins Rennes on €28 million deal until 2031

English centre‑back Charlie Cresswell, 23, completed a €28 million transfer from Toulouse to Stade Rennais. He signed a contract running to 2031 and will feature for Rennes in Ligue 1 and the Europa League.

Cresswell progressed through Leeds United’s academy, helped England win the Under‑21 European Championships in 2023 and 2025, and spent a season on loan at Millwall before moving to Toulouse in 2024. At Toulouse he made 66 appearances, kept 18 clean sheets and scored eight goals. He said he is “very happy” to join Rennes, citing the club’s project and the chance to play in European competition.

Rennes, who finished sixth in Ligue 1 last season, will open their campaign against Paris Saint‑Germain on 23 August and aim to make an impact in the Europa League.
