Charlie Cresswell views Stade Rennais as stepping stone to Premier League

English defender Charlie Cresswell has expressed that his move to Stade Rennais is a strategic step in his career progression aimed at eventually returning to the Premier League.

Since joining the club from Toulouse FC, the 24-year-old center-back has become a key figure in Franck Haise’s lineup, starting every match during the first eight rounds of Ligue 1. Cresswell, who previously played five matches for Leeds United, noted in an interview with Ouest-France that while his transition to Brittany has been fluid and welcoming, he views the experience in France and the opportunity to play in the Europa League as necessary development for his future ambitions.

Cresswell emphasized his desire to play high-level football and stated, “My hour will come. Step by step,” regarding his goal of returning to the English top flight.
