Charlie Jones joins New York Giants roster over Bengals reunion
Charlie Jones has joined the New York Giants’ 53-man roster, opting to stay in New York despite interest from his former team, the Cincinnati Bengals. Jones, a 27-year-old wide receiver and return specialist, was originally a fourth-round pick by the Bengals in 2023.
Reports indicate that the Bengals were interested in a reunion with Jones after releasing returner Ke’Shawn Williams following a muffed punt. However, Jones chose to pursue a role with the Giants to prove his capabilities beyond being a return specialist. His move to the Giants' active roster comes as the team manages injuries to players like Deonte Banks and Tyrone Tracy.
Meanwhile, the Bengals are managing roster shifts due to injuries in their wide receiver and secondary units. Head coach Zac Taylor noted the team is working to find the best combination of talent for upcoming matchups, including the promotion of Mitchell Tinsley and the utilization of DJ Ivey in a starting cornerback role.
