Charlie Kirk: One year after assassination, Turning Point USA expands

One year after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, various commemorations and developments have emerged. On the anniversary, Utah Valley University cancelled classes to allow for reflection, and a large memorial service was held on campus attended by thousands, including Turning Point USA leadership and figures like Glenn Beck.

Political leaders have also marked the occasion. Vice President JD Vance delivered a keynote address at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, honoring Kirk’s legacy and urging conservative unity. The White House also issued a tribute calling Kirk a ‘fearless patriot.’ Additionally, Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro spoke publicly about the broader implications of political violence.

In the wake of his death, Kirk’s organization, Turning Point USA, has seen significant expansion, reporting a rise to over 3,500 high school chapters and 1,500 college chapters. Meanwhile, legal proceedings continue as 23-year-old Tyler Robinson has been ordered to stand trial for aggravated murder. A leaked contract also suggests that Turning Point USA has entered into a $700,000 agreement with the Israel-based International Fellowship of Christians and Jews to sponsor faith-based summits.
