A memorial event is scheduled at Utah Valley University to mark the one-year anniversary of the death of American ultra-conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The event, titled ‘Freedom Built to Last’, was announced by Turning Point USA, the organization founded by Kirk.

Kirk was killed by a gunshot to the head on September 10, 2025, while delivering a speech at the university. Tyler Robinson, 23, was arrested and charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shooting.

The legal proceedings are currently in the preliminary stage. Defense attorneys have filed a request to dismiss the aggravating factor that would make Robinson eligible for the death penalty, arguing that the prosecution provided insufficient evidence during the preliminary hearing. A court hearing is scheduled for September 1 to determine if the case will proceed to trial.
