Charlie Ottley to restore visitor center in Şirnea, Romania
British television producer Charlie Ottley has announced plans to restore the original visitor center in Şirnea, Braşov County, using traditional materials. The project aims to transform the structure, which was near total collapse when purchased, into the first English pub and guesthouse located within a Romanian village.
The establishment will be named ‘Kings Arms’ and is dedicated to King Charles III in recognition of his support for Romania. Ottley, a producer of documentaries such as ‘Wild Carpathia’ and ‘Flavours of Romania’, became a Romanian citizen at the end of 2025 after living in the village of Şirnea. He intends to continue promoting Romanian tourism and traditions through such local preservation efforts.
