Charlie Zaa assets forfeited by Colombian court

The Justice and Peace Chamber of the Superior Tribunal of Bogotá has ordered the forfeiture of six assets belonging to Colombian singer Carlos Alberto Sánchez Ramírez, professionally known as Charlie Zaa. The assets, valued between 20,000 million and 23,775 million Colombian pesos, include commercial spaces in the Oasis Shopping Center in Girardot, urban lots in Guamo and Lérida, and the Hacienda Guamal in San Luis.

Authorities are investigating whether these properties were acquired using illicit funds linked to the defunct Bloque Tolima of the Autodefensas Unidas de Colombia (AUC). Prosecutors allege that Diego José Martínez Goyeneche, alias ‘Daniel’, used third parties to invest illegal money into these properties to hide its origin.

The singer's defense has rejected these allegations, maintaining that the assets were purchased legally using income from his musical career and royalties. Following the court's decision, the properties will pass to the State to be used for mechanisms related to the reparation of victims of the armed conflict.
