Airbnb.org hosts inaugural gala in Los Angeles

The nonprofit organization Airbnb.org held its first-ever gala on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Milk Studios in Los Angeles. The event, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, served to mark a new initiative where Airbnb will donate a portion of its commercial revenue to the nonprofit.

Airbnb announced a commitment of $500 million over the next five years to expand the nonprofit’s services. This funding aims to support families displaced by natural disasters, those traveling for medical care, survivors of domestic violence, and veterans in need. The goal is to provide free short-term emergency housing for approximately 1 million nights each year.

The star-studded evening featured a musical performance by Charli XCX and attendees including Charlize Theron, Jessica Alba, Serena Williams, Demi Lovato, and Matthew McConaughey. While the event featured significant red-carpet fashion moments, a spokesperson for Airbnb stated that fundraising was not the primary focus of the evening, which was intended to mark the next chapter of the organization’s work.
