Charlize Theron to produce Hulu's Webtoon adaptation 'The Mafia Nanny

Charlize Theron will executive produce The Mafia Nanny, an upcoming live-action series for Hulu. The project is expected to be the first English-language live-action adaptation of a Webtoon intellectual property.

Written by Max Gill, the series is based on the popular Webtoon created by Violet Matter. The story follows Davina, an elite nanny tasked with protecting Mikey Angelini, the son of a Venetian mafia underboss. The narrative blends romance and thriller elements as Davina navigates the dangerous criminal world of the Angelini family while attempting to maintain professional boundaries.

This move aligns with Hulu’s strategy to leverage Webtoon content, following the announcement of another adaptation, The Remarried Empress, scheduled for November 2026. The original Webtoon has garnered hundreds of millions of views globally.
