Charlotte community events and transit service updates
Charlotte and its surrounding areas are hosting various community events and service updates between October 21 and October 29.
Nourish Up, a collaboration between Loaves & Fishes and Friendship Trays, is conducting several free food distribution events. These sessions will provide fresh fruits, vegetables, and basic food items without requiring identification or financial documentation. Scheduled locations include the Keith YMCA, Greater Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Stratford Richardson YMCA, and Cokesbury UMC. Additionally, Food for Families NC, alongside The Caraway Foundation and Luz a las Naciones, will organize food distribution in Monroe to support families in need.
In transit news, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) has announced a three-day suspension of the Gold Line from October 24 to October 26. The closure is necessary for annual autumn maintenance, which requires turning off overhead electric cables to ensure crew safety. CATS will not provide replacement buses due to coordinated construction on Trade Street. While the Blue Line will remain operational, commuters are advised to use alternative bus routes, such as routes 1, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 17, or 27, depending on their direction of travel.
