Charlotte community services and Spanish-language news expansion
Charlotte and its surrounding areas are hosting various community support activities and service expansions. Local organizations are providing free resources, including food distribution, dental clinics, and veterinary care. The Nourish Up initiative, a collaboration between Loaves & Fishes and Friendship Trays, will distribute fresh fruits, vegetables, and essential food items at multiple locations, including Atrium Behavioral Health, Lift Up Carolinas, Trinity United Methodist Church, and Johnston YMCA, throughout late September and early October.
In news media, Qué Pasa Media Network has been awarded a $30,000 grant from the North Carolina Local News Lab Fund. This funding is intended to strengthen and expand Spanish-language local news coverage in Charlotte. The initiative aims to provide more in-depth reporting on public safety, health, education, and government decisions to serve residents who prefer consuming information in Spanish.
