Charlotte FC clinches MLS Cup playoff berth with 4-0 victory
Charlotte FC has officially secured a spot in the MLS Cup playoffs following a 4-0 victory over CF Montreal. The win, achieved at Bank of America Stadium, marks the third consecutive season the club has surpassed the 50-point threshold, a feat matched only by Inter Miami in the current campaign.
Liel Abada delivered a standout performance, scoring a hat-trick just 18 minutes after entering the match as a substitute. Other contributors to the scoreline included Henry Kessler, who opened the scoring in the early minutes, and Allan Saint-Maximin. In a separate match context, Charlotte also secured a win against Orlando City SC, which prevented the visiting team from clinching a postseason spot and left their qualification status uncertain.
Charlotte FC head coach Dean Smith praised the team's consistency and stability as they aim for a top-four finish in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, Orlando City remains in a battle to secure a wildcard position heading into the final days of the regular season.
