Charlotte Hornets face major roster overhaul ahead of preseason

The Charlotte Hornets enter the preseason facing significant roster changes following a 44-38 season. The franchise underwent a major summer overhaul, trading star guard LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three pick swaps, and three second-round picks.

Additionally, Miles Bridges was traded to the Phoenix Suns for Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale, and an unprotected first-round pick. These departures leave Brandon Miller and Kon Knueppel as the primary young core expected to lead the team.

Brandon Miller, the 2023 second overall pick, faces a pivotal year as he seeks to establish himself as a franchise player and potentially secure a long-term contract before entering restricted free agency next offseason. NBA scouts have noted that Miller's development, particularly regarding physical strength, will be critical to his success as a primary option.
