LaMelo Ball trade details revealed by Charlotte Hornets
The Charlotte Hornets have released a behind-the-scenes video detailing the decision-making process that led to the trade of LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves. In the “Reel Access” series, Hornets general manager Jeff Peterson and the front office are shown discussing an offer that met the franchise’s valuation for Ball.
As part of the multi-team transaction, Ball and Josh Green were sent to Minnesota in exchange for Naz Reid, an unprotected 2033 first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, and 2030), and three future second-round picks (2029, 2032, and 2033). Peterson noted during deliberations that the team likely would have also traded Miles Bridges had they moved Ball.
In Minnesota, Anthony Edwards has expressed excitement about the new partnership, jokingly comparing himself and Ball to characters from “The Incredibles.” The Timberwolves expect the addition of Ball, who averaged 20.1 points and 7.1 assists during the 2025-26 season, to bolster their backcourt as they compete in the Western Conference.
