Charlotte Stewart recalls bold audition for ‘Little House on the Prairie’

Actress Charlotte Stewart, 85, recently shared details regarding her audition for the classic television series ‘Little House on the Prairie’. During an appearance on ‘The Patrick Labyorteaux Show’ podcast, Stewart recounted how she secured the role of schoolteacher Eva Beadle, known as Miss Beadle.

Stewart explained that she arrived at Paramount Studios for the audition wearing jeans and a tie-dyed T-shirt, unaware of the project's significance. Upon entering the room, she discovered Michael Landon among a group of men. To prepare for her scene, Stewart requested to sit behind the producer's desk and commanded the room to be quiet, an action she later reflected on as effectively telling Landon to ‘shut up’ during her interview. The bold approach was successful, and she went on to appear in the series during its original run from 1974 to 1983.
