Charlottenlund elderly housing residents face major rent hikes

Residents of Strandlund, an elderly housing complex in Charlottenlund, face significant rent increases to fund extensive renovations. The project, estimated to cost up to 100 million kroner, is necessary to address issues with water damage, moisture, and mold growth caused by construction defects.

As a result of these costs, tenants have been notified that rents will rise by 30 percent on January 1, 2027, followed by an additional 28 percent increase in 2028. This represents monthly increases of approximately 2,000 to 2,500 kroner for the 144 rental units.
