Charly Boy Foundation Provides Free Prostate Screenings to Nigerian Navy

The Charly Boy Foundation, founded by entertainer Charles Oputa (known as Charly Boy), offered free Prostate‑Specific Antigen (PSA) tests to Nigerian Navy personnel and civilians at the Naval Medical Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. 120 men took part in the screening, which was carried out in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bourdillon Prestige.

Charly Boy, a prostate‑cancer survivor, said the exercise is part of a nationwide campaign to raise awareness and encourage early detection among men. He thanked Rear Admiral Ibrahim Shehu, Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard, for supporting the effort. The foundation, a nonprofit focusing on men’s health, hopes the initiative will reduce silent deaths from prostate cancer in Nigeria.
